Three Badges - Three families
Gazan children are drawing
to support their families.
Their drawings are being made into badges by artist Steph Goodger and sold, with all proceeds going directly to the families.
Memory versus Reality
These two young artists have drawn visions of their homes from memory, so different from the crushing reality.
Ayla Elmoghany
3 years old, drew her badge with the help of her mother Shatha. Her brother Nafeth is just 1, born into war, and Ayla is too young to remember their house in North Gaza, which has been very badly damaged by bombing raids after October 2023, but was being repaired when the ceasefire was violently broken on 18th March 2025. Since then they are once again displaced.

Yazeed Khodary
12 yrears old, drew his destroyed home from memory. Yazeed loves drawing and inventing, recycling rubbish into board games to play with his two brothers. The family live in Gaza City, near the rubble of their home. His mother Maysaa is a doctoral student in Crisis and Disaster Management. This has to be done by distance learning, as the University has been destroyed.

Mohammed Hussein
8 years old, from Gaza City. His mother Rana writes, ‘Mohammed has drawn Gaza City as he dreams of seeing it, free from destruction, with intact buildings, paved streets, clear skies free of the smoke of bombing, and the beautiful sea of Gaza.’ The oldest of 3 siblings, he wants to be an engineer like his father. Since October 2023 this young family has been displaced multiple times.
